Strawberry Banana is my favorite smoothie, and now it seems it has become one of my favorite marijuana strains. This strain is also known as Strawnana for short, and it is a wonderful smoke to enjoy.

It is an Indica dominant hybrid strain that is 70% Indica and 30% Sativa, yet it maintains a comfortable balance between body and head effects.
The result of a collaboration between DNA Genetics and Serious Seeds is a strain that has a deep and rich genetic lineage.
A cross between Crockett’s Banana Kush and the Strawberry phenotype of the Bubblegum strain, it is certain to delight smokers everywhere.
Read on to learn all about its history, profile, and growing information.
Strain History
Genetics
Strawberry Banana comes from some seriously impressive genetic lineage. It is a cross of Crockett’s Banana Kush and the Strawberry phenotype of the Bubblegum strain.
Banana Kush is itself a hybrid strain that is a cross between Ghost OG and Skunk Haze. The genetics of the initial Bubblegum strain are unknown and disputed at best, which means there are quite a few different phenotypes within the strain’s range.
Strawberry Banana has also been used to create new strains such as Peach Cobbler and Gummy Bears.
Origin
Strawberry Banana is a result of a collaboration between DNA Genetics and Serious Seeds.
Strain Profile
Strain Appearance
Strawberry Banana has the large and dense buds one would associate with the Banana Kush plant. There are flashes of vivid, almost neon greens when held under bright light, whilst subtle greens and deep purples cover the leaves.
The pistils are a striking combination of orange and red, and there is more than a generous coating of sticky resin white crystal trichomes all over the buds.
Strain Flavor
A succulent combination of almost sickly sweet and fruity tones that consumes the mouth as soon as you take a hit.
The sweet tropical strawberry tastes almost fresh on the palate, and it’s joined by subtle hints of earthy spiciness. This is a strain that is guaranteed to have your mouth watering.
Strain Aroma
The tropical sweetness of berries and bananas is prevalent in the aroma when you light up this strain. The sweetness is profound yet not overwhelming, with the almost earthy spiced aroma bringing some balance to the overall sensory experience.
Strain Cannabinoids
Typically, Strawberry Banana has a pretty high THC count of between 18 – 26% and CBG levels of around 1%. As you can see, there is quite a big range of potency amongst this strain, and some testing has even found levels of up to a ridiculously high 32%.
Due to the various phenotypes, you may not experience the same smoke when you buy Strawberry Banana from different suppliers, so it’s something to be aware of.
Strain Terpenes
This strain has a great combination of terpenes that lend themselves to helping out with all kinds of medical issues.
The dominant terpene is Limonene, which brings sweet citrus aromas and provides antibacterial and antimicrobial effects. It’s known to promote weight loss, prevent and treat cancer, and treat respiratory conditions such as bronchitis.
It is also believed to improve the body’s rate of serotonin production, helping users feel happier and more at peace in their minds.
Terpinolene is known for its antioxidant properties, and it has natural antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties. It also has strong sedative effects and works as a mild central nervous system depressant.
Caryophyllene is rather special in that it can directly activate cannabinoid receptors in the brain. It works well as a treatment aid for both physical and mental discomfort. It can be used to aid the treatment of anxiety, chronic pain, and fatigue.
Myrcene brings the earthiness to the aroma of this strain, whilst its strong anti-inflammatory and sedative effects can work wonders. Use it to treat muscle spasms, chronic pain, and sleep-related issues such as insomnia.
Strain Effects & Side Effects
Users report feeling a deep sense of euphoria, along with a case of ‘the giggles’. It allows the user to turn down some of the noise in their head and engage in a sharp and focused state of mind.
This makes it a popular strain amongst creatives and those who consume throughout the day.
The heavy sedative effects due to the high THC content could certainly catch you off guard. In heavier doses, it could keep you glued to the couch all day, so ensure you respect your tolerance the first time you smoke it.

Users reported having dry eyes after smoking, so keep eye drops handy, splash your face with cold water or open the windows to help reduce that ‘Red Eye Jedi’.
To combat the cottonmouth you may experience, always keep a drink nearby to ensure you stay hydrated.
Medical Benefits
This strain is a bit of magic when it comes to treating numerous health issues of both the body and mind. Those struggling with anxiety, chronic stress, or depressive conditions may find a greatly elevated state of mind.
This strain is fantastic for slowing down the mania associated with such conditions and allows the user to take a step back and gain some perspective.
The initial cerebral lift can also help these individuals overcome perceived obstacles to continuing with their day and help those with fatigue to feel a little more energized.
The high THC count and sedative effects work wonders as a painkiller, helping those with all manner of chronic pain issues, including reducing muscle spasms.
Many use it throughout the day in small doses to overcome persistent aches and pains that otherwise may see them bedridden.
Struggling with a fluctuating appetite? Then this strain is sure to vastly improve that and help you fall in love with food again.
Strain Grow Info
Strawberry Banana can be grown both indoors and outdoors and is a strain that growers of all levels can cultivate. Outdoors will require warm and semi-humid conditions for the best results, whilst it’s important to provide enough nutrients to the plant.
Allowing exposure to colder temperatures as the plant nears its flowering stage will help to bring out the deep purples in the buds.
Strain Seeds
Strawberry Banana seeds are readily available via online stores and in-person dispensaries. Be sure to be informed of your local and state laws regarding the shipping of seeds online to ensure you’re not heading for any legal trouble.
Strain Flowering Time
Cultivators of this strain can expect a flowering time of around 8 – 9 weeks, and when grown outdoors it’s important to harvest by the middle of October at the latest.
Strain Yield
Indoor cultivation will see a generous return of between 15 and 19 ounces per square meter. If grown outdoors, each plant can produce up to an incredible 23 ounces.
Final Thoughts: Strain Review
Strawberry Banana proudly continues the legacy of its epic lineage. This is an absolute winner of a strain, one that combines heavy Indica properties with uplifting Sativa effects.
It looks fantastic, with a fascinating color palette of greens, purples, oranges, and reds all caked in milky white crystal trichomes.
The smell is intensely sweet, with the berry and banana lingering in the air delightfully. The taste is just as phenomenal, and the effects combine an improved zest for life with a deep feeling of contentment and peace.
I found it struck a delicate balance and allowed me to go about my day without some of the worries I usually have roaming in my head.
I certainly felt more optimistic about life and enthusiastic about engaging with the tasks at hand. This is a highly recommended strain, especially for those with worries in their minds.
