Apple Fritter Strain

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, or so they say.  I would like to ask ‘them’ if a dose of Apple Fritter strain also counts? If so, I will never need to see a doctor again!

Apple Fritter Strain

This brilliant Hybrid-strain from Lumpy’s Flowers is split evenly, with 50% Sativa and 50% Indica.  For many years it was surrounded by secrecy, with its genetics being unknown.

Now it’s known that it’s a cross between two powerful strains in Sour Apple and Animal Cookies. It was a Top 10 Hybrid Flower entrant at the NorCal and SoCal High Times magazine Cannabis Cup events in 2017.

Read on to learn all about its history, profile, and growing information.

Strain History

Genetics

Apple Fritter is a strain that was, for a long time, shrouded in mystery and secrecy. The team at Lumpy’s Flowers in San Diego did not initially share the genetics or process involved in cultivating this sumptuous strain.

We now know that it was created by crossing Sour Apple and Animal Cookies strains.

This gives it a notable family tree on both sides, so let’s take a look. Sour Apple is a cross between Cinderella 99 and Sour Diesel, whilst Animal Cookies is a cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG.

Both of the parental strains, and many within the genetic lineage, are next-level potent and out of this world strong, which has made Apple Fritter one of the strongest strains ever known.

Origin

Apple Fritter is the creation of the brilliant Lumpy’s Flowers in San Diego.

Strain Profile

Strain Appearance

Apple Fritter is a nice-looking strain that’s covered in dark and light greens, with dashes of purple shining through. It has dusty orange pistils and a generous coating of white crystal trichomes all over the olive-shaped buds.

Strain Flavor

Apple Fritter has a truly sensational flavor profile.  The sweetness might catch you off guard, as it tastes like an actual apple fritter! You can even taste a peppery and cheesy pastry as you smoke.

Strain Aroma

The super sweet taste is also dominant with the aromas, as it is deliciously complemented by a sweet vanilla note. Three are also earthy and slightly herbal notes when smoked.

Strain Cannabinoids

Apple Fritter has a wide-ranging THC count, that goes from around 22% all the way to an astounding 34%. Holy moly! No wonder then that this strain is regarded as one of the most potent ever cultivated.

The strain also contains a trace level of CBG of around 1%.

Strain Terpenes

The strain has an interesting and diverse range of terpenes that offer numerous benefits.

Myrcene can be found in nature in lemongrass and thyme, as well as bringing slightly earthy notes to the aromatics. Myrcene has strong sedative effects and impressive anti-inflammatory capabilities.

Caryophyllene is usually associated with the aromas of cloves and cinnamon. It features highly in a number of strains that are great for medicinal relief, being used in the treatment of anxiety, chronic pain, and fatigue.

Limonene provides antibacterial and antimicrobial effects, as well as fresh and sharp citrus aromatics. It’s known to promote weight loss, prevent and treat cancer, and treat bronchitis.

It is also believed to improve serotonin production, which is the chemical responsible for improving mood and psychological well-being.

Strain Effects & Side Effects

Users report feeling an elevated state of being, a deeply relaxed state of mind and body. Many also felt they had the infamous ‘giggles’ and they couldn’t stop smiling and talking with those around them.

Due to the mind-boggling potency of this strain, it is one to be extremely cautious with. Know your tolerance levels before you start blazing through a bag of this strain, it’s not one for beginners.

Quickly, the elevated and giggly state of mind can soon be replaced by the strongest case of couch-lock you will ever have experienced. Being 1 foot away from my water but unable to lift my arms to reach it confirmed this for me.

Medical Benefits

It should be noted that the incredibly potent THC count for Apple Fritter will mean that it’s not a suitable strain for inexperienced users or smokers with a low tolerance.

Users have reported relief from both physical and mental difficulties when consuming Apple Fritter.

The heavy sedative effects make it fantastic for treating insomnia and other related sleeping issues. Those with fluctuating appetites may also find relief and a vastly improved appetite.

Sufferers of anxiety and depression also reported vastly improved states of mind when consuming Apple Fritter in moderation.  The anti-inflammatory properties work wonders as a pain reliever, even those with chronic pain can find relief from this strain.

Strain Grow Info

Due to the previous mystery and secrecy around this potent and powerful strain, there is not as much growing information available as with other popular strains.

This is a strain that will require careful care and management to combat pests and disease. This means that perhaps it’s a strain more suited to experienced farmers and enthusiastic students of Dr. Green-thumb.

These bushy and dense plants will grow to around 4 feet in height, making them great for indoor growing and discreet outdoor cultivation. To grow it efficiently outdoors, the plant need to be in warmer temperatures with a more humid climate.

Strain Seeds

Although it’s near impossible to get original seeds from Lumpy’s Flowers directly, there are now numerous varieties that other cultivators have grown.

Some are direct copies that growers have made by crossing Sour Apple and Animal Cookies.  Others have taken Lumpy’s Flowers Apple Fritter and crossed it with other varieties.

Strain Flowering Time

The usual flowering time for Apple Fritter is between 9 and 10 weeks. When the phenotypes lean towards either Sativa or India, this may vary the flowering time, so it’s something to be cautious of. Apple Fritter plants are typically ready for harvesting by the middle of October.

Strain Yield

Typically, those cultivating Apple Fritter indoors can expect to yield around 12 to 14 ounces per square meter.  Outdoor cultivation is likely to produce around 14 to 16 ounces per plant.

Conclusion

Apple Fritter is without a doubt one of the best strains I have ever tried. Its rich and deep genetic lineage has aided in the creation of a strain that is like rocket fuel.

This is a delightful and delectable Hybrid strain that produces great Indica and Sativa effects for a balanced smoke.

The greens and purples of the buds contrast beautifully with the dusty orange pistils and crystal white trichomes. The sweetness in the taste and aroma is spectacular, it’s a revelation for any sweet-toothed consumers out there.

Whilst the medicinal benefits are sure to appeal, it’s really only one for those with a strong tolerance or at least some self-control! Blazing up too much of this in a short time will almost cement you to the sofa or nearest comfortable surface.

Apple Fritter comes highly recommended, it’s certainly worth taking the opportunity to try some if you get the chance. I found it relieved my physical discomfort more than most strains and allowed me to proceed with my day with an uplifted state of mind.
